Maaike Raaijmakers works as a project leader at Bionext and is involved in projects in the field of organic propagation material, breeding and floriculture: from policy development and lobbying to advising potential switchers. She has an extensive (international) network, a lot of knowledge about biological legislation and regulations and research possibilities.

“A grower of tulip bulbs asked for advice about the rules that apply to the organic forcing of flower bulbs. Because European organic regulations say nothing about forcing, the rules were unclear. Together with the entrepreneur, we have listed the various options and asked foreign fellow organizations about their approach. The result is that certifier Skal has drawn up a policy document that provides the requested clarity. There are now two companies that grow organic flower bulbs into organic tulips.”
